Can you solve a borrowing crisis by borrowing more?
The government has a odd idea that you solve a problem brought about by borrowing too much, by borrowing more. The Prime Minister yesterday went out of his way to stress he wanted the private sector to borrow more from the banks. He has made it well known that he wants to take the public debt to unheard of peaks. The main reason his strategy will not work well is that it is fundamentally flawed, muddled over what the origins of the crisis were and even more muddled over what the solution

New York, NY - Bloomberg: City On Pothole-Filling Blitz
New York, NY - The holidays may be over, but pothole season has only just begun. Mayor Michael Bloomberg says his transportation department is on a pothole-filling blitz. Extreme winter weather makes potholes occur more frequently. In the last five weeks, city crews have filled more than 20,000 potholes on the city’s 6,000 miles of streets. And the [...]

3 Ways for Alcohol Recovery, Including a Vision Board
Now that the holidays are over and life is returning to its normal routines, some of the population will be reflecting on the drinking pattern that occurred during those holiday parties and events. The side effects associated with drinking alcohol can go from the very moderate to the very extreme and there is only one person that can identify which one you are, and that person is you. Around recovery circles there is a famous saying: “If you think you have an alcohol problem, you probably do.”

17-Inch MacBook Pro Macworld Debut With Non-Removable Battery
annual extensive rumour roundup ahead of the 2009 Macworld Expo, frankly it was a little premature as the last few days have presented themselves as very busy for rumours. The initial roundup article is worth reading as it is still reasonable accurate but here what’s new and what has changed in quick bullet form fashion. 9 to 5 Mac now believes that the 17-inch MacBook Pro will have a removable battery despite initially reporting that it wouldn’t. Although unsure whether it will arrive at Ma

Like a yo yo
YB has left - no more distractions (for now) with everyday life resuming now that holidays are over. I find myself back to feeling an extreme sense of loss, especially when I'm alone in the flat. I have been rationalising my actions again and again and thinking every things positive. Also making plans for the coming weekend to keep myself busy. Honestly, I didn't anticipate feeling this bad - am reminding myself yet again that time is the best healing mechanism. I wish I could quick forward time

Meanwhile...
While we were slacking off over the holidays, Richard Bartholomew has uncovered a few things that we missed over at WorldNetDaily: -- First, Bartholomew points out that a Dec. 9 WND article promoted a "quarterly magazine of Christian history and biography called Leben," while failing to mention that its editor, Wayne Johnson, is a member of the WND board of directors, as we've noted. (Johnson is also a Rushdoony-ite Christian reconstructionist.) Nor does the article acknowledge that Leben is a

To the partners, boyfriends, girlfriends and spouses helping to raise kids that aren't "their own"...
#fullpost{display:inline;}I'm waving a middle finger in the air on your behalf to the Maxim institute's piece that labels you men folk as child murders and the women, well there's plenty of books and movies depicting us as the bad bitch who inflicts emotional abuse and neglect upon our s/o's child. The irony of this article was it was published a few days before most of you handed over gifts to your non-biological kids while some of you found yourself planning your holidays around court ord

Fun Games of 2008
We meant to publish this before the New Year came around, but the Holidays got a bit busy. We’re finally able to talk about our fun games of the year. As we’ve done in the past, we’re not giving out “Game of the Year” awards, because we didn’t play everything released in 2008 and quite frankly, it’s presumptuous to declare something the “BEST” of anything. We’ll stick to what we know best. These are the games we had the most fun with this year: Xbox 360 Tony: [GTA IV] This seems to be the “con

Twitter Topic: Air Canada Sucks!
So as many people experienced during the crazy snow storms of the Christmas holidays, airlines in Canada are not equipped for severe weather conditions. I have spoken with some people on this issue and every have said that if modern airline equipment cannot handle the freezing temperatures of extreme weather, and if due to the needy economic times the airlines cannot afford to upgrade their equipment, the least they could do is instill the value of good customer service in their employees and prof

The Media and Hamas : Vilifying the Victim
The dominant media are in high gear over Gaza. They vilify Hamas, stay silent about Gazan suffering, are mute on the crippling blockade, its devastating human toll, and practically champion Israel’s call for “every-out war” and the slaughter of defenseless men, women, kids and infants.By Stephen Lendman / January 2, 2009The blame game -- no one plays it better than the dominant media, and they’re at it again over Gaza. Expect no comments below in their spaces, yet honest journalism would headl

Crafty Reuse for Wrapping Paper
greeting cards, what about that wrapping paper? Did you toss it out? No, of course not! But what do you do with it now that the gifts are unwrapped and the holidays are over? Well hopefully you are a careful unwrapper, like myself. I exude extreme restraint when I denude any gifts. Not only do I want to know what’s inside, but I also want the paper, too. Even if you aren’t as a restrained unwrapper, you can still salvage the paper and reuse it in many many crafty ways. If your paper is a bit

Happy Holidays, Hon.
While home for the holidays in Baltimore, I ventured to 34th road in the Hampden neighborhood for some Christmas light-seeing. I was sleepy of manicured trees and 'polite' decorations, so 34th road was refreshing with its animated reindeer, bright lights and army of inflatable Santas. This single block has gone Christmas-crazy for 61 years, starting with one home on the corner and spreading down the road. It has since attracted media attention, local tourists, and a slew of vendo

Make-Out Music
a recent thread, I think this is as good a time as any for us to share memories of our earliest make-out music experiences. I recall my first make-out session in the basement of an eighth grade classmate being accompanied by some form of slow-dancing/groping to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" leading into actual making out alongside a wood-paneled wall to Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams." It was pretty chilly. Sadly, times and music tastes would change drastically before my next meaningful make-out

I'm in the mood for...this?
Yesterday was an especially bad day in the Mr. Moderator household. One of those end-of-the-holidays blues days, in which every family member was miserable and no home, not even Windsor Castle, would have been big enough for each of us to grumble in private. At one point I was in such a bad mood that I looked through my albums and pulled out an album Townsman Geo gave me a couple of years ago, the first Ry Cooder album. Have you ever pulled out an album you typically don't spin while in some

50 Things I Hope To Do or Start in 2009
“[I pray for] The strength to change what I can, the inability to accept what I can’t and the incapacity to tell the difference.” - Calvin Calvin & Hobbes: The Days are Just Packed I think having a list of New Year’s resolutions is just setting yourself up for disappointment. So this is just a list of things I wish to do but, if I don’t succeed, I’m not going to judge myself. Although this should not prevent you from judging me. Travel. I didn’t even receive on a plane last year. I mean
